The Super Strawberry

The Super Strawberry is an agribusiness farm/cafe located in Glen Innes, New South Wales, Australia. They offer a range of strawberry-based products, including fresh strawberries and cream, fresh strawberry milkshakes, and a variety of homemade jams made from local fruits. The cafe is known for its tradition, passion, and pursuit of perfection. It’s a popular destination for locals and visitors alike who want to indulge in the simple pleasures that make life truly sweet.

They grow their own strawberries, and their season is from October to May, but they are open all year with delicious fruit.

A range of jams, chutneys, relishes, and sauces hand made on the premises are available.  Local honey is always available.  A range of gourmet food items will fill your larder with great Australian product.

The cafe is located at 9922 New England Hwy, Glen Innes, New South Wales 2370, and is open every day from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Where it all started

The Super Strawberry began at “Elm Vale” Furracabad, a district near Glen Innes. Ivan and Rhonda March came to Glen Innes from South Australia bringing with them some strawberry runners for the garden.

Around 1972 Rhonda and Ivan noticed that whilst they had plenty of strawberries none were available in the local fruit shops and supermarkets in the district during the summer months. Upon investigation it was discovered that the district was only supplied with the Queensland winter crop out of the Brisbane markets.

A decision was made to grow a small area of approximately 500 plants to see if their was a market for the fruit. Punnets were hand made and cellophane cut to cover them at night to supply the local fruit shops – Floyds Fruit Market, Stanton's Fruit Shop and MC Mackenzie and Sons Supermarket. After a successful year, the decision was made to move into Glen Innes to a leased piece of land on the corner of Fawcett Lane and the New England Highway. A small shed from the Furracabad Farm was moved onto site. A flip top opening cut into the side and a counter built

Selling to the local shops and retail sales from this shop proved the business to be successful and land was purchased on the corner of Glen Legh Road and New England Highway and the shed was moved to that site and more strawberries planted.

From this the business grew… a bigger dining selection, coffee, gift lines, a bigger range of jams, a new kitchen, a new dining room, and a large green house
